RSPCA Melbourne Santa Paws – Donna The Pug

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Donna the Pug, who aside from being an Instagram star, is also the ambassador for the RSPCA Santa Paws – Santa photos for you and your pet!  I sat down and had a chat with Donna (and her human Sally) and got to know her a little better.

Donna was surrendered to the RSPCA earlier this year, and was overweight with eye and ear infections. She had also had several litters of pups, and needed an operation on her soft palate (apparently her snoring was a noise to behold). She went into foster care with Sally while she recovered, and sure enough – Sally was a complete foster failure. Here are some fun facts about Donna:

  • Donna, like most of us ladies, is working hard to get her best bikini body. She came into the care of the RSPCA at twelve kilos, and has lost two, with her goal weight of eight or nine kilos. She keeps fit with two walks a day and runs on the beach.
  • Donna had never played with toys before going into foster care! Now she loves them, although it took her a while to figure out what they were for.
  • Donna has her very own couch. Well, technically it’s the human’s couch but Donna says it’s hers.
  • She pretends to not like her Staffy brother Jet but has been busted snuggling up with him when the humans aren’t looking.
  • Donna’s birthday is the 20th of April, which makes her a Taurus.

Donna would love to see you at Santa Paws, so head on over to the RSPCA website to book (bookings close Thursday evening), or turn up on the day.Santa Paws is always a huge amount of fun, and while you’re at the shelter you can also check out their retail products (great for stocking stuffers), and you might even find another addition to your family – there are dozens of sweet cats and dogs who would love to have a home in time for Christmas!

The three musketeers

I absolutely love getting group shots – they are so much more challenging, but I think you’ll agree the results are worth it!

Three Cool Pugs on a Hot Melbourne Day

I originally met the gorgeous pugs Caulfield and Harold at the Saffron on the Hill open day, and they’ve been waiting all year for their turn in the spotlight. We had one of those hot Melbourne spring days for our photo shoot, so it was tongues out and lots of sitting down (humans and dogs). Harold and Caulfield were joined by their sister Elsie – and I think you’ll agree that they are three super photogenic dogs!

Caulfield is a super cheeky handsome boy with a great smile

Harold loved playing up to the camera – he’s a bit of a poser

The gorgeous Elsie takes some time to reflect on life

All tuckered out

The Best of September

September was a huge month, and it seemed to last a long time – bring on summer I say! The theme for September seemed to be puppies, which is very spring appropriate don’t you think?

I started the month off with a shoot with Oliver – I had photographed him almost exactly a year ago when he was a tiny pup. Now he’s big and strong, but still just as sweet.

I attended the Oscar’s Law rally, which was a fantastic day – being surrounded by thousands of people and dogs, all united for the same cause.

I had a gorgeous shoot out in rural Victoria with the gorgeous little pup Stella and her big brother Boots – this pair were so sweet and charming

And then another puppy of a completely different kind – Cinder the stunning Shiba Inu pup was a joy to work with

We also had a bit of a fashion show at Saffron on the Hill to show off their new Oscar’s Law collars, leads and harnesses

Gus didn’t fancy modelling much so he just lay down and chewed on his toys

I also updated my packaging – nothing like new stationery to make this girl happy

These two are always the highlight of my day

Tragically darling  Zach from Saffron on the Hill passed away this month. He went safe and warm in his mother’s arms, and his presence is so notably absent on our visits to the Hill. He was so loved and we will never forget him.
