An Update

This weekend I achieved several things – I caught up on my accounts, I did several loads of washing, and I injured my back. For someone like me who is extremely active, it’s been a harsh lesson.  I run or go to the gym most days,  plus I love playing with the cats, my two have a strange love of being chased down the hallway. Now I’m struggling to sit up for more than five minutes. I admit I’ve never been overly sympathetic to people who complain of sore backs, but oh boy do I get it now! So no gym, running, or photo shoots for me for a couple of weeks while I heal – luckily I have two awesome cats who will happily snuggle up with me on the couch and entertain me. I’m also going to try and limit my computer time, so you might see a few less updates from me.

I’ll be back in action soon, so if you’d like to schedule a shoot for Autumn get in touch today.  Autumn is my favourite season, and a huge relief from the searing dry heat of a Melbourne summer.  Not to mention the light is soft and golden, the weather is perfect, and the leaves turn the most beautiful shades of red and orange – stunning photo shoot conditions.  I’ll also be coming to Wellington, New Zealand a bit later on this year, so if you’d like to register your interest in a shoot send me an email.

The Dogs of 2012

By my calculations I have photographed close to, if not more than one hundred dogs this year in Melbourne and New Zealand. So you can imagine what a hard task it was to pick some of my favourites. I hope you enjoy this small selection of the dogs of 2012!

The Best of August

August has been a month of highs and lows. We found out that the gorgeous Zach from Saffron on the Hill has an aggressive tumour that cannot be cured, which is devastating news. And on Friday we got the horrible news that darling Arnold had passed away suddenly. His owners are grieving very hard for him, and my heart is so sad for their loss.

There has also been happiness this month. Our foster kittens both found great homes, with Mr Moo (now called Albie) going to live with a new big sister (also called Moo!) and Justin B staying right here with us and his new best friend Harry. As you can see they are the best of friends and adore each other.

This month I also had the pleasure of photographing Otis, a seventeen year old mini Foxie who is such a character. Apparently he likes nothing more than to run away to the cat shelter down the road and snuggle in front of the heater with the cats.

Adorable little Paddington arrived at Saffron on the Hill and was promptly snapped up by a lovely new family who will spoil him rotten

A bit of rain doesn’t slow this little bundle of energy down

The rest of my August was spent working on my tax return (boo!) and taking time off to visit family back in New Zealand. September is going to be a very busy month, with some really exciting shoots coming up. I’m currently taking bookings for October, email me today to secure a spot.

Seventeen years young

In my experience, senior dogs tend to be chilled out and a bit slower than young dogs. Not Otis (or Oti as he’s often called) – he’s an old boy but has the energy of a puppy. Oti’s mum has had him since she was ten years old, and he’s lived an adventurous life, having lived in both the Gold Coast and Tauranga before settling in Wellington, New Zealand.

Wellington turned on the charm weather wise (a rare occurrence), so we headed to the park for some shots, where Otis had a great time ruining his mum’s grooming. So it was home for a quick bath before he finally fell asleep on his bean bag.

Photographing senior pets is always such an honour, it makes me so happy to know that their owners will have beautiful photos for years to come. Ready to book a Pet Portrait session for your senior pet? Email me on erin@erinmcnulty.com. I’m currently taking bookings for spring/summer in Melbourne and expressions of interest for summer sessions in New Zealand.
